About Evie Hanlon
About Evie HanlonI'm Evie Hanlon and a self taught Australian Artist. I live in sunny North Queensland up the top of Australia. I was one of those people up until about 6 years ago who beleived they couldn't draw to save themselves. One day I picked up my daughters twist up crayons and decided that's it, whoever the gremlin was in my head that was saying such things was to be evicted. I haven't looked back, it's been extremely hard work but I'm happy with where I'm at.
My inspiration comes from nature specifically, whether it's photography, pencil, pen or pastel, there's not many peices I produce that don't have a leaf shape in them somewhere. Other inspirations would have to be friends, family and fellow members of an art group I run (along with 4 other strong, Aussie women!), it seems the more I do the more I inspire others and that in itself gives me reason to create.
I'm also inspired by Childrens books illustrators, both those from my childhood and modern day book illustrators. On a photography vein, the photographers I've met on Fine Art America I have to say have encouraged me in many new directions and I'm honoured to be in company with such people. Oracle and Tarot artists have been an inspiration also.
All in all, as long as I'm creating and getting my work out there, I'm very happy.
Thanks for your interest.
