Description
Olive Backed Sunbird fledgling (Cinnyris jugularis). These guys were nesting in the shed where I was working at the time. Their nest is a work of art in itself and it was an honour being able to watch them as they slowly built it. It's a long, droopy, basket shape. The parents built it together and did the majority of the parenting together. They feed mostly on spiders, though they are a nectar feeding bird as well. Mostly it was spiders I saw them feeding their babies. This little guy had one day out in the shed and after that it was out into the wide world.
